Under His Wing

"Why are you still here?" Alvis asked Angel who was standing beside him. They were taking a walk out in the cherry blossom park. It was supposed to be an attempt to cheer Alvis up but he was nowhere near cheery today. Alvis tried to read the expression on the blood angel's face but all he could see was that same old caring look. He couldn't understand why he always looked at him that way. Alvis looked away from that gentle face and added in with a small mutter, "you saw what I did back there, you should leave."

Angel looked up as if in thought then leaned on the edge of the bridge with Alvis, "why am I still here? Well, that's easy." He nudged Alvis with his elbow to get him to glance at him, then he grinned, "it's because I love you."

Alvis stared at him for a few seconds with dumbfounded eyes then turned away again, pulling his hood over his head. He didn't know what to say. 
'What a fucking idiot,' Alvis thought.
